Fall Feasting!

It's that time of year again, time for me to celebrate the change of seasons by celebrating food! For the next three months, I'll be reading a number of both fiction and non-fiction books centered around food. This year, it's also going to help me knock off one of the challenges I signed up for this year, The Foodies Read Challenge.

On my pile of books to choose from this fall are:
A Thousand Days In Venice by Marlena De Blasi
Harvest by Richard Horan
Under The Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes
Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver
The Lost Art of Mixing by Erica Bauermeister
The Kitchen Daughter by Jael McHenry
A Year in Provence by Peter Mayle
Chef by Jaspreet Singh
Extra Virgin by Annie Hawes
Five Quarters of the Orange by Joanne Harris

Which of these have you read? Are there any I simply must get to this fall (because let's be real here, there's no way I'm getting through all of these no matter how good my intentions!)?

  1. I've read The Lost Art of Mixing by Bauermeister (reviewed here) I thought it was quite good. Almost as good as The School of Essential Ingredients. Have you read that?

  2. I've read quite a few of these (A Thousand Days in Venice, Under the Tuscan Sun, Animal Vegetable Miracle, A Year in Provence, and Five Quarters of the Orange), and the three with the travel angel stood out more for me.

The Lost Art of Mixing is on my list... and I really enjoyed The School of Essential Ingredients on audio!

  3. I just wish food didn't get such a bad rap... know what I mean? :)

  4. I love foodie books. Year in Provence is a fun read--I've read it 2-3 times, but it is a bit dated these days. Animal, Vegetable, Miracle is wonderful--a life-changing book for me, that made me commit to growing and preserving more food. Under the Tuscan Sun was so-so; I thought Frances Mayes a bit full of herself (and Kathleen Turner was a good casting choice for that aspect of her).

The latest foodie book that I've read is Eat the City, which was wonderful.
