Giveaway: The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd

Sue Monk Kidd's The Invention of Wings is coming out in paperback on May 5 and the publisher, Penguin, would like to offer you the chance to win a copy! To enter the drawing, just leave a comment below letting me know either which book made for the best discussion your book club ever had or which book you would recommend for book clubs. I'll announce the winner on Monday, April 13th.

The Omaha Bookworms read this one last year and can vouch for it making an excellent book club selection and now Penguin has put together an online book club kit to help other book clubs get the most out of their discussion. It's a really great kit, with a lot of interesting information about the book even if you're not reading it as part of a book club.

Also, check out this clip from the audiobook:

  1. I think The Good Earth by Pearl Buck would be a great choice for a book club discussion.

  2. Awesome.

I recommended The War of Don Emmanuel's Nether Parts to my Mum's book group. My Mum liked it but some of the others didn't like the more graphic bits. I think The Crimson Petal and the White would make a good choice too, but not for that group as the main character is a prostitute!
