A Month of Faves - These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

Oops! Forgot to tell you yesterday - A Month of Faves is the brainchild of Tanya Patrice of Girlxoxo.com, and also hosted by Traveling with T, and Andi of Estella's Revenge. Thanks ladies for hosting such a fun event!

Fave beauty products this year were:
* Maybelline's Lash Sensational mascara - inexpensive, nonclumping, lasts all day, makes my lashes crazy long. What more could a girl want? I don't wear a lot of makeup but I do love my mascara and I've tried a lot over the years.

* Nivea Extended Moisturizer Hand Creme - I go through tubes of this every winter but it's the best thing I've ever found to keep my hands from cracking during the winter. And it's unscented. This year I also added to my Nivea love their original creme. Perfect for a person who may be a little germ phobia and washes hands a lot - even in the summer I need a good cream for my hands.

Fave new restaurant:
* Block 16 in downtown Omaha. Alton Brown called their Croque Garcon Burger the best burger he's ever had. It is so messy and delicious! You have to come to Omaha just for this burger!

Fave new beer:
* Watsatch Apricot Hefeweizen. It's a winner just for that beautiful label alone, right?

Fave concert this year:
* Hands down it was the Avett Brothers which we saw outside this summer with friends. Love their music and they do a great job relating to the audience.

Fave place visited this year:
* Gotta be Lake of the Ozarks because we went with my entire family to celebrate my dad's birthday. The house we rented was great - the view from the deck was almost as nice as being out on the water. It was so relaxing and fun to be with everyone when we weren't trying to fit in all the holiday activities.

Best thing I bought this year:
* My new iPhone. Because it's gold. And does all of the things.

Biggest change of the year:
* Being an empty nester. For four and a half whole months.

What were some of your favorite things this year?

  1. That beer sounds delicious! I've been trying to use hand creams more this year because my nails are terrible and I think part of the reason is because my hands are sooo dry. I'll have to check out the mascara. That's an item I can't live without and I'm always looking for good ones.

    1. I'm trying to remember with moisturizer and water that you can't wait until you feel dry!

  2. I have added "Block 16" to things I have to try in 2016. I'm not a beer fan, but I'll pick up some of the apricot for Hubs. I agree, the label is a winner.

    1. Definitely hit Block 16 the next time you're in Omaha - pub food with a flair.

  3. Loooove Lash Sensational! It's the only drugstore one I've found that compares to my Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes. Also, I need to try that hand cream because OH THE CRACKING.

  4. I know I shouldn't laugh but I chuckled when I got to your comment about being an empty nester for four and a half months. My daughter still insists she is never moving out--and I keep telling her that is fine with me (knowing full well, we'll both likely feel differently when she's older--well, maybe just her).

Some of my favorite things this year? Having annual passes to Disneyland. I know we won't be able to do it again when they expire, but it sure was fun. I also loved all those little moments with my daughter--the cute comments she made, the adorable things she's done. How big she's gotten and how sweet she is. That my cat Parker is still doing well since his surgery. Hearing that they got all the cancer was wonderful news.

    1. I thought my daughter would never move out, that she could never be too far away from her mommy. Turned out it was harder on me than her! Although we still saw quite a bit of her when she was gone. It was really nice to have my house stay clean when it was just the two of us and I felt like I deserved it after 27 years of trying to keep a place clean when kids are working to make a mess of it!
