Is it literary fict...I am not sure about this one. Is it literary fiction with fantasy elements? Or would you classify it more as a straight up fantasy? From what you wrote, I could see myself really getting into Rachel and Helen's story and am curious about what decision was made that changed everything. When I hear "tall tale" though, I start to worry it might be too full of symbolism that I might not appreciate or understand.
