He kind of sounds like a book snob. So thinking I'll pass on it and come up with my own list of books to read for a year of reading dangerously ;-)Stacy at The Novel Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11438410877723922583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605456781483914021.post-66975078059334477052016-08-01T14:57:46.527-05:002016-08-01T14:57:46.527-05:00I tend to like books like this and often come away...I tend to like books like this and often come away with a longer TBR list than when I started. I've gone through phases in my life when I've read more than at other times, but I cannot imagine going three years without reading any book other than DaVinci Code! I'm glad to hear he like Middlemarch as it is truly one of the best books ever. I don't believe it continuing to read a book that isn't working for you. I suppose if you're doing a reading project that makes some sense, but reading time is too precious to squander it.

I liked the way you reviewed this book--I'm a fan of bulleted lists and reactions!JaneGShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11094501834387622997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605456781483914021.post-86069740767314419692016-08-01T12:32:50.634-05:002016-08-01T12:32:50.634-05:00I've had to drift through certain parts of mor...I've had to drift through certain parts of more difficult books too. Usually I find my footing after awhile, but sometimes it can be challenge. I find it particularly true when I read classics. Like you said though, it sometimes becomes a matter of my getting what I can out of a book rather than what the author might have hoped I might.Literary Felinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13079276242303738719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605456781483914021.post-57941419796680229122016-08-01T08:24:35.437-05:002016-08-01T08:24:35.437-05:00I like the concept of this one and there are a lot...I like the concept of this one and there are a lot of books that I feel like I should read (though I don't think I lie about having read them). It doesn't sound like his list and mine would line up either and while I do see his point about getting something out of each book I'm not sold on powering through something either. That sounds like the perfect way to end up in a massive reading slump! I like the idea of reading a little bit at a time and maybe borrowing the basic concept for a project of my own.Katherine Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12126062556416434416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605456781483914021.post-53099326123096737032016-08-01T06:53:16.874-05:002016-08-01T06:53:16.874-05:00Interesting... Maybe a chapter at a time would be the way to approach it.JoAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13691864361197071517noreply@blogger.com
