It did feel like the same old plot, nothing new to see here. I've liked some of her other novels so I am not going to write her off as an author, but I was disappointed with this for sure.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605456781483914021.post-78573751241841313092014-07-16T10:37:55.470-05:002014-07-16T10:37:55.470-05:00I admit when I first heard the author had written ...I admit when I first heard the author had written a sequel, I groaned inwardly. In my experience, it's rare that a sequel to follow-up with characters is good unless it's a planned sequel or series. I'm disappointed this one wasn't better. I've been curious about it though, given how much I liked The Deep End of the Ocean.Literary Felinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13079276242303738719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605456781483914021.post-67270656787345438922014-07-16T09:41:48.581-05:002014-07-16T09:41:48.581-05:00I was the same way with The Fire, the sequel to Ka...I was the same way with The Fire, the sequel to Katherine Neville's The Eight. I think its not normally a good idea to write a sequel to a book, unless that was the intention all along. The second books never feels organic, or even neccesary, when its simply an attempt to capitalize one the success of the first book.Ryanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17786139533776263328noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605456781483914021.post-91392812460770985222014-07-16T09:09:23.349-05:002014-07-16T09:09:23.349-05:00I read Deep End and found it to be incredibly sad ...I read Deep End and found it to be incredibly sad and depressing. I don't think I'd read a sequel to it and never even knew she had written one. Tihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00926060806244061354noreply@blogger.com
