It scared me, but it also put a face on this horrible disease. I'm looking forward to reading it again before I see the movie. I also recommend Left Neglected, which I read in 2010. Lisa Genova is an outstanding author. So heartwrenching, and it's hard not to get teary-eyed for Alice. This glimpse inside the mind of a dementia patient is, as you said, frightening and yet poignant. The final scene with her children (don't want to say too much for those who haven't read) has stuck with me and I have repeatedly tried to figure out how that would feel. Did she realize any of her illness by then? A very thought provoking story - and yes, being in the same age bracket makes it doubly so.Tamihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16094928747500699123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605456781483914021.post-61729160996069592402014-10-29T18:09:38.801-05:002014-10-29T18:09:38.801-05:00This book was such a difficult read for me. I find sometimes my memory isn't what it used to be (I forget a name or a word) and I start to panic.

Sometimes I wonder if I should find out if I have the gene for Alzheimer's (my grandfather had it), but I don't know if I want to know. :-SLiterary Felinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13079276242303738719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605456781483914021.post-11221467487322902322014-10-29T12:41:20.016-05:002014-10-29T12:41:20.016-05:00This is like my worst nightmare in book form. She went from tough and funny and incredibly glamorous to almost faceless in a nursing home bed. This looks like a powerful book though I may have to work up the courage to read it.Katherine Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12126062556416434416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605456781483914021.post-13905192119088261082014-10-29T06:49:44.993-05:002014-10-29T06:49:44.993-05:00Such a sad book... it scared me, too.Such a sad book... it scared me, too.JoAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13691864361197071517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605456781483914021.post-60020257666447766042014-10-29T02:47:10.137-05:002014-10-29T02:47:10.137-05:00This sounds just a wonderful book.
