One of the things that strikes me when watching Call the Midwife is how the mothers routinely leave their babies napping in their prams while they shop, visit, etc.

BTW, this book has been on my tbr list for years. Now I won't have to be shocked by this scene :)JaneGShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11094501834387622997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7605456781483914021.post-19412365601965913972014-09-25T21:51:07.132-05:002014-09-25T21:51:07.132-05:00Wow! Of course my 4 year old is regularly trying to convince me that I can just leave him at home instead of taking him to the grocery store. He's quite convinced he can take care of himself. Wow. And yeah, the concern over the cat and not for the child being left alone, let alone in a cage all day . . .

In my job I often get asked about the legal limitations of leaving children home alone in regards to length of time and especially their age and when it constitutes neglect. It isn't the same in every state--and I imagine even jurisdictions within a state might interpret the laws differently. It's been interesting to me to see how different some of those interpretations are in the cases that have made the news or come up in social media conversations.Literary Felinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13079276242303738719noreply@blogger.com
