I loved the books;couldn't put them down. Mankell's long history with Africa comes out in several of them. He is a well traveled, brilliant author and has lived both in Sweden and in Africa. He is extremely knowledgeable about both. <br /><br />I also loved the BBC/PBS adaptations. Once I started watching one, I was up half the night, watching them all. The first season has hours of extras, including an in depth discussion between Branagh and Mankell.
