Sunday Salon - October 25th

I'm glad to say that I survived my first read-a-thon, although I had hoped to get more reading done and didn't get to participate in any of the mini-challenges. Well, it's not that I didn't get to. I just opted not to because it meant I had to take that much more time away from my reading. Next time...

At 5:30 a.m. I finally crawled into bed to read for the last hour and a half. Which was not a very good idea. I was fighting so hard to stay awake at that point that I was in bed for about half an
hour before I gave up. But that still means that I only slept for two hours in the 24 hour period. I was so happy I had gotten snacks. Even though I don't normally snack while I read, it was a great help to keep me going. Now if my family would just have stopped laughing at me and calling me a nerd, that would have helped!

In the end, I finished 4 books and got a start on a fifth; total pages read were 812. I think I had picked a good selection of books; I never felt like I was struggling and liked everything I read. I had hoped to get to 1000 pages...if only I hadn't slept! Again, next time...

  4. You're a brave woman! It sounds like a great way to spend the weekend. I'm so tempted to try this...armed with snacks, coffee, and energy drinks, I wonder how many books I'd be able to read?

  5. I only did one mini-challenge as they took up a lot of time from reading. Wish the hours stretched during the readathon. LOl. You did great! :D

I don't know if you get my comments back if I repsond to you on my blog so I will comment here in case. Sorry for the duplicate message if you do!

I think the babe and I may have to arm wrestle for The Swan Thieves! But I may just read it out loud to him. What a vocabulary he will have after that, huh?

As far as the cast goes, it comes off, cross your fingers, in a week!!! I hope it all goes okay. he has started to crawl with it. Very adventurous he is!
    Thanks for asking.

    Take Care,

  8. I really do love my apartment :o) Parts of it, anyway.

Thanks for sympathizing with me over Echo in the Bone. It was tough. Maybe I'll re-read it in a year or two and like it better, but Idk... the set-up of that one was just frustrating. But I'll still be super excited when Book 8 comes out! :o)

The first one will be John Thornton from Elizabeth Gaskell's North&South and our first "date" will be today. ;D

  10. The cheerleading in the read-a-thon was just amazing, I did not expect anything like that. Are you thinking of doing the challenge again at April?

  11. That is a lot of pages! I didn't participate this year but I cannot imagine reading that much in one day. Amazing.

  12. Wow, only two hours of sleep? Awesome! Somehow I always think I'll get more reading done during the readathon than I actually do. Even when I tell myself that I'll probably only get 4-5 books read, then manage to read 6.5 (plus a board book I read to my son) I'm disappointed by all I didn't get to.

  13. You did great Lisa on very little sleep. Did you have a massive headache like me yesterday from lack of sleep? LOL I'm good today though. Went to bed at 8pm and slept until 6:30 am...LOL

  14. You did a great job though! Only 2 hours sleep isn't a lot of sleep. I could never have laid down or I'd have been lost (as it was I went to be some time after midnight.)

  15. Wow! That's definitely an impressive read-a-thon. I may trying reading enxt time although cheerleading was definitely fun too, not that my measly four hours counts for much compared to your 22 of reading. ;-)

  17. I think you did great! I participated in a few mini-challenges, but mostly stayed away from the computer to do more reading. Sounds like you had a good time, even though you were labeled "nerd" by your family. LOL
