Life: It Goes On - February 7

Happy Sunday! I hope it's warmer where you're at than it is here - our temps dipped below 0 last night and we're stuck with frigid temps for the next week are so. I HATE the cold; it's the thing I hate most about winter but even it wouldn't be as bad if it were at least dry. But no. It keeps snowing, a few inches a day. If it weren't for CoVid, I'd at least be planning a trip somewhere warm to look forward to, but I'm not comfortable with traveling any where yet. So we'll hunker down and stay in as much as possible. Oh, wait...we've already been doing that since the middle of last March!

Last Week I:

Listened To: I'm listening to Isabel Wilkerson's Caste but it's hard to listen to while I'm doing other things so I've also listened to Hamilton, Into The Woods, and III by the Lumineers.

Watched:
Bohemian Rhapsody and Blazing Saddles last night. And, of course, we'll be watching the Super Bowl tonight. While the Chiefs aren't either of our favorite teams, we'll both be cheering for them...and against Tom Brady. But it will be hard to cheer against all of the Bucs with Nebraska roots - Suh, David, and Shaquil Barrett who grew up in Omaha.

Read: I raced through Fredrik Backman's latest, Anxious People, started Paula McLain's When The Stars Go Dark, and read more of Louisa May Alcott: The Woman Behind Little Women

Made: Ham and navy bean soup, chicken pot pie, a loaf of sourdough bread, and Heath crackers. It's been all about warmth and comfort food.

Enjoyed: An unexpected visit from my brother-in-law for a couple of nights. We've all had CoVid now so we can sit together without worry, which is a nice change.

This Week I’m:

Planning: On doing a lot of reading this week. I've got several books that have all come ready from the library at the same time.

Thinking About: Spring and gardening.

Feeling: Tired of winter already.

Looking forward to: The end of this cold snap.

Question of the week: I cannot get my feed to load on Bloglovin'; it tells me the page won't open. Are any of you having problems? Or do you have a different RSS feed that you like?

  1. I loved Anxious People as well Lisa - so good-so different. My husband got his first COVID vaccine last week, no side effects. I'll have to wait till March as it goes by age here for the general population. Hope you have a good week. Snow is to start here soon - we had 10" last week as well... sigh.

  2. On this windy February day, I am thinking spring and gardening too. Comfort food is what's on the menu - we made French onion soup yesterday, and thinking of making another soup for tonight.

I haven't read that LW LMA book but will put it on my list as reading about her is one of my pet projects.

  3. Interesting to read about your experience with Caste. Did you read The Warmth of Other Suns? I just finished it this week and loved it, but have been warned that Caste is a bit drier and more academic. The weather is cool here, too... by Florida standard anyway! Hope you warm up soon.

PS - I've had some trouble with Blogluvin' loading, too. Seems like I constantly have to refresh :(

  4. I have never gotten into Bloglovin' but have heard a great deal about it. Still using Feedly here.

I'm ready for winter to be over too, if only because I just want to be outside more often than inside. Have other distractions ready at hand. I hope this Spring/Summer will be better than last year and more people do get vaccinated.

  5. Brrrr. I wish I could share my weather with you. It's lovely here. I hope it stays like this for awhile. I am glad you liked Anxious People. I look forward to reading it myself. I use Inoreader as my feed reader. I use their free version and it works well for me. I hope you have a great week, Lisa.

  6. Be careful my friend, I've had friends who have had COVID more than once. Immunity benefits only last a couple of months, so they say.

A long time ago I used Feedburner for my feed but I don't use anything now. I read other blogs via Feedly and all I do to connect to them is just enter their main URL.

  7. It’s not here, we’ve basically had the air conditioner running all week.
I guess there is an upside to you all contracting Covid, I hope you all remain well.

Wishing you a great reading week, and warmer weather.
