Sunday Salon - November 7

I just finished typing up a review for later this month; I now how five reviews already typed up and scheduled.  I have never been this far ahead and I've got to tell you, it feels good!  Even better, in the next day or so, I will finish up my last book tour book for the year.  I do love getting the books for review, and have certainly discovered some gems that I never would have found otherwise, but I am so excited to be able to dive into my own books for the remainder of the year.

Every so often, I begin to question the sanity of staying in Nebraska.  Heading into winter, especially after a winter as horrible as last winter was, that feeling is particularly strong.  Last night Miss H and I were called into duty to bring cheer and laughter to my niece.  I felt a bit like Batman responding to the Bat signal.  The four of us enjoyed chips, salsa, and drinks (although I'm not sure anyone seated near us enjoyed having us around).  Most of all we enjoyed copious amounts of laughter, developed a few new "inside" jokes, and reminded ourselves, once again, of why we have chosen to stay near to family.

"All for one and one for all" became our rallying cry Saturday night.  Thank you, Alexandre Dumas.  Oh, and if you were wondering, steak knives make a more than adequate substitute for swords!

  1. I was just sitting here thinking about typing up the four reviews I haven't gotten done so I can schedule them through the next month. I suspect I need to pre-blog as much as possible.

South Dakota winters are so hard for me, growing up in Alabama, but that being close to family thing pushes it over into a positive. Usually.

  2. I love to be ahead of schedule as well -- procrastination never feels good!

And being close to family is fantastic and is even more wonderful during the holidays!

  3. Wow, I wish I was this far ahead, I am always FAR behind LOL! :)

"All for one and one for all," - Love this line... and I think it is in a way nice to be near family.

  4. Yay for getting the chance to read your own books, and another Yay for good times out with family. I hope you have an excellent week, and get tons of good reading in!

  5. I'm hoping to be through all my obligatory reviews for the year in another couple of weeks - I like getting ahead on those too, and I'd love to end the year with mostly discretionary reading!

  6. Cherish being close to your family! Mine is over 3 hours away and we just don't get to see them much at all!

  7. Every time we wonder why we stay in Texas it always comes down to family. And Texas is cheap as dirt, but mostly family.

Oh to have my reviews all written for the rest of the month. Oh wait...I'd have to finish a book first! ;) I try to pre-write as much as I can but usually it's only drafting a day or two out.

  8. I'd say you didn't quite a wonderful job of bringing fun and laughter to your neice. I'm sure she felt much better after spending sometime with you and Miss H!
I understand your thoughts about fleeing Nebraska when winter descends because of the times I spent snowed in in Wisconsin while only there to visit my grabdparents before school started up again after Labor Day. Ha! just joking! It wasn't that bad, but anytime after October 1 I learned that snow might hit with a vengeance so I never fully unpacked my suitcase in case we had to make a hasty retreat to the airport.
Would you really move? And, if so, where?

I am so impressed that you have so many reviews finished and waiting to be posted. I hope to be in the same position one day. I like reviewing books that I didn't choose but I want the opportunity to read what I want to read, too. I guess my mood determines which I prefer at any given time!

  9. Yeah, being ahead of schedule is great! Even being right on schedule is nice... unfortunately, any time I have anything to do it's usually all last minute...

OH yeah and Mondays are my favorite day cause it's technically "Saturday". Backwards, right?

  10. Your niece is lucky to have you as her merry compatriots! The musketeers have nothing on women's friendships, I tell you!
