Sunday Salon - September 27th

So, what, last week or so I said when I reached 75 followers I'd do another giveaway. Then suddenly I was already to 82 followers and hadn't even put any thought into the giveaway. So that's on the agenda for this week, I promise. Thanks to all of my new followers!

I've been so caught up in watching football the past couple of weeks that my reading has really fallen off. Friday nights are the high schools' games. Having lived in Nebraska my entire life, I'm passionate about my Huskers; but I'll watch college football all day long on Saturdays. Then Sundays, I get professional football. Sadly, I'm a Raider fan so there's not much to cheer about on that front.

I do seem to be on a World War II reading kick of late. Not necessarily intentionally. Just got lucky in the books I've gotten for review. Having just finished "Night of Flames," I was really "wow'd" to receive a comment from a fellow blogger whose father was in the Italian resistance. So amazed by what those brave people did.

I'm off to find a snack and do some reading. Have a great week!

  1. Football is alive and well in this house too. I accepted an ARC book on football. I don't really understand the game but the book is helping tremendously. It's called A Sportscaster's Guide to Watching Football. I'm hoping to be up-to-snuff by the SuperBowl.

  2. Comments like the one from the blogger you mention do make blogging all the more fun. It really is a small world out there. :-)

I hope you have a great week too!

  3. LOL - yeah, Treland picked out the moving announcements. I think he just really liked that you put the sofa into the moving truck :o) But we have a couch now! Yay!

  4. Football season means we have a tv blaring here constantly but I'm getting better about being able to read through the distraction. LOL!

Love cool comments pertaining to what you've read. And that one sounds extra special.

  6. I love football season, but not because I personally love it, but I love having my husband occupied all the time! :--)

  7. I am amazed of that book. I always thought that the only books that can touch me like that are Pride and Prejudice and other Austen books. From the first page onward The Crossroads Cafe just took my attention and I had to keep reading. Deborah Smith is amazing writer. If you haven't read that book I would totally suggest it to you.

  8. (Sadly, you are a Raider Fan.)
I'm a Chiefs fan (sad, as well?) so I'll work hard to respect you anyway! ha.
I love football, too and I look forward to Ti's review. I tried to read a Madden football explanation guide and it was not that good. I've also attended a 'football explained' clinic for women presented by the Mizzou coaching staff which also turned into a strange cocktail party and not a lot of football talk.

  9. Since you are a Raiders fan, do you have any idea why john madden retired? This disturbs me more than anything else this season. He's a football fixture in my home and I just don't want to face a season without him. I know men 90 years old still working -- grrrrrrr.

  10. Those Huskers have a pretty good program--too bad my Aggies can't seem to get it together. :) Actually, I've been out of the loop and have no idea how the Big 12 is holding up. Tired of Texas and Oklahoma, though. Was thrilled about Tech last year (both hubby and I got degrees there, although I got my first from A&M), but then they just couldn't hold it together. LOL--apparently don't get me started...! :)
