Life: It Goes On - May 15

Our four kids!
Well, we've had quite the week! We got Miss S hooded and graduated, the party for Mini-me and Miss S was a huge success, we've been enjoying getting to know her mom for the past couple of days, AND Mini-me and Miss S got engaged! We are beyond thrilled!

I'll be AWOL for a few more days enjoying Mama E's visit but I've got a couple of reviews scheduled so I can take a couple of days to recover.

This Week I'm:

Listening To: I continue to listen to Stieg Larsson's final book, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest. I'm enjoying it much more than the second book, so far.

Watching: Gilmore Girls in the mornings before work (the writing on that show never fails to amaze) and I caught a movie I'd never heard of before when I was off work on Friday, "Copying Beethoven" with Ed Harris and Diane Kruger (you can never go wrong with Beethoven!).

Reading: I finished The Bookman's Tale this week and started Adam Haslett's Imagine Me Gone, although I haven't had much time to read in the past few days.

Making: Pork loin; baked ham, turkey or veggie sandwiches; onion dip; and three batches of homemade ice cream. You know, party food.

Planning: Mini-him's move out in a couple of weeks. Our house = revolving door.

Mini-me
Thinking About: On catching up with my blog reader - I miss my bloggers and I can't wait to see what everyone's been up to with Armchair BEA and real BEA!

Enjoying: Celebrating all of the good things with family and friends!

Feeling: Thrilled for Mini-me and Miss S - we could not have picked a better girl to join our family and love watching them so happy together!

Looking forward to: Putting my feet up once our house guest is on her way home and reading, reading, reading!

Question of the week: If you're married, what was your favorite part of your wedding?

  1. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott and I will be celebrating 10 years this week. Favorite part of the wedding? We had an awesome DJ and we danced and danced and danced. My photographer sucked and I'm still disappointed about that (because it was the biggest part of my small budget).

And yum--THREE kinds of ice cream?? I'll be over in about 15 hours. ;)

    1. We've already talked about thinking about where they want to splurge since money will be tight. They seem to think they don't want all of the posed photos but I'm going to encourage some of them because I think they'll be disappointed if they don't do some of the fun things photographers can do. Plus, let's be honest, the day goes by in a blur and it's hard to remember all of it without the pics!

  2. My husband's favorite part of our wedding was having cake. Mine was eating the good chow and partying on the dance floor. Congrats to your daughter. I need to rewatch The Gilmore Girls series. I love the snarkiness of Lorelei.

  5. I started Imagine Me Gone this week, too. I hope I love it as much as I loved Haslett's other book.

    1. I haven't read the other book. I was a little confused about this one for a bit until I heard Haslett interviewed and understood better what he was doing, particularly with the dark humor.

  6. Congratulations to Miss S. and your son! A double celebration with family and friends for the graduation and the engagement - that's great! Favourite part of our wedding ceremony? Remember is at if it were yesterday!! The dress, the flowers, the gathering of friends and family at church, the reception all added up to what was a special day in my life not least because I managed to wear contact lenses so that I could walk down the aisle without wearing my glasses. Oh the vanity, but that seemed important at the time! Enjoy your time with with Mama E.

    1. Miss S has already requested that the flowers all be out of my parents' and our gardens. I'm going to have to get a plan to make sure I've got things blooming next summer!

    1. My only sadness is that Miss S will leave shortly for her residency, followed a couple of months later by Mini-me. None of my kids has ever been so far away and they are already talking about maybe not being able to get home for holidays. Trying to be happy for them as they are very excited and not dwell on how hard it will be for me to let him fly away.
