This Week I'm:
Listening To: I've been all over the place with my listening the past couple of weeks. Some of the time I'm listening to my audio book, some of the time to podcasts, some of the time to music. I'm as ADD with my listening as I am with my reading lately!
Watching: Um, did I mention the Olympics? All sports, all of the time. Very glad to have missed the French gymnast breaking his leg, though.
Reading: I raced through Jacqueline Woodson's Another Brooklyn while we were traveling, but otherwise, I'm all over the place. I think I've finally settled on Amy Stewart's Girl Waits With Gun for now.
Making: Tacos, sandwiches, grilled steaks - easy summer fare. Last night, Mini-me and I worked together to make a black bean and grilled corn salad that we served over quinoa he made. He's a huge fan of quinoa; I am not. Well, I wasn't. But he make have convinced me to give it another chance.
Planning: A bridal shower for my niece and a going away get together for Mini-me before he takes off for his new adventure.
Thinking About: How much fun we had in Milwaukee. If you live there, you already know that you have a great city. I'm pretty sure that a lot of the rest of the country has no idea. Maybe we'll just keep it between us. I wouldn't want it to get too crowded because that German Fest we went to the first night was all the crowded I could handle!
Enjoying: Spending time with cousins from Denmark who have been visiting with my parents.
Top: the new digs, German Fest; Middle: Wind Point Lighthouse, Atwater Beach, Milwaukee Museum of Art; Bottom: Wind Point Beach, Milwaukee River riverfront walk, North Beach Park |
Feeling: Happy. You all know how much I love spending time with my family and seeing them all having so much fun together and so happy was the best! I thought we'd never get Miss H out of the water!
Looking forward to: Right now I'm not looking forward so much as trying to stay in the present.
Question of the week: The Big Guy likes the beach but he's more of a mountain person. I like the mountains, but I'd much rather spend vacations on the beach. Are you a mountain person or a beach person? Or, maybe, a city vacation person?
I think I'm more of a mountain vacation person. I like the beach but can only manage a couple of days without being done. But I love hiking and exploring and can entertain myself endlessly in the mountains. Your week looks like it was a lot of fun! I've been listening to podcasts all summer but am about to download and audio book today now that school has started back. I'm looking forward to it. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI've never been a hiking gal - not even when I was young and thin. And driving along those narrow roads on the mountain sides terrifies me. I do love being in the mountains - I just want to be somewhere where I can just park my butt and gaze at their wonder!
DeleteDefinitely not a city vacation person. Since I already live in the mountains of northcentral Pennsylvania, I think I'd prefer to be on the beach. Looks like you both had a great time at the beach regardless.
ReplyDeleteI do like to go to city's sometimes, visit museums, see different cultures, explore the foods. But those kinds of trips are much more stressful than the mountains or the beach and I do like a vacation where I can just relax these days.
DeleteI love Milwaukee too! Your post and pictures the other day made me want to go back!
ReplyDeleteI'm so ready to go back already - of course, it might just be because I miss my kids!
DeletePatio reading time sounds nice. I may convince my daughter to play with her water table today so I can sneak in a page or two of reading. :-) The Olympics have our attention indoors though. We won't get to see much of the games during the week week because of work, I'm afraid. I hope you enjoy Stewart's book. I have her second one waiting its turn to be read.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you had a great time in Milwaukee and are enjoying your company! Everyone looks so happy in the photos!
I love the beach, but I'm more of a mountains person, I think. My husband is the opposite. I think my daughter is leaning more towards mountains too at this point.
Have a great week, Lisa!
I think my boys both love the beach but prefer the mountains where there is more to actually do. My daughter, on the other hand, practically had to be dragged out of the water!
DeleteUhmm...beach. Beach. Beach. Does that answer the question?!
ReplyDeleteI hear you about the Olympics! Do you have a favorite sport to watch? For me, it's the swimming, but honestly, it's only day 2 and I'm logging almost 5 hours of TV or streaming a day. Really cuts into not only the reading, but everything else I'm supposed to get done. ;) Still, it's only every four years so I'm giving myself a pass.
So, beach?
DeleteI agree about Milwaukee - we spent a long weekend there once and had the very BEST time! I even think it was GermanFest when we were there. Quite a few years ago but we keep saying we should 'do it again.' :) Of course, I say Omaha is a great weekend city, too. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I were just contemplating this question!
ReplyDeleteWe are starting to consider retirement places and Colorado and Florida are both at the top of the list.
We have to do LOTS of research though. Many trips are planned to both locations :)
Wouldn't it be nice to have homes in both places?!
DeleteThe Olympics have been fun to watch. I've seen my share of injury clips though. Goodness! That poor male gymnast breaking his leg on landing... I cringed. I seriously felt it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't need to see the injuries over and over again.
