2014 TBR Pile Challenge

Why yes I have decided to join a TBR challenge after all. Because I need to seriously make sure I'm working on these books that have been collecting dust on my shelves. The Official 2014 TBR Pile Challenge is hosted by Roof Beam Reader and requires the challengee to read pick 12 books plus two alternatives published before 2013 that have been on your shelf for at least a year to read in the coming year.

My twelve books are:
1. A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway
2. Life of Pi by Yann Martel
3. The Sound and The Fury by William Faulkner
4. The Princess Bride by William Goldman
5. P. S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern
6. The Secret History by Donna Tartt
7. Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
8. Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens
9. The Portrait of A Lady by Henry James
10. The Warden by Anthony Trollope
11. The Ten-Year Nap by Meg Wolitzer
12. Five Quarters Of An Orange by Joanne Harris

Alternates:
1. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
2. An Arsonist's Guide to Writer's Homes in New England by Brock Clarke

  1. Great challenge. I actually made it a mission this year to read books I bought (some years ago) and never read.

  5. Yay! Glad you're joining in and clearing out those shelves. I have been meaning to read A Moveable Feast myself for years now, but I don't think I actually have a copy--must remedy that. I really liked Chocolat but haven't read anything else by Harris--would like to, though.

I'm also reading A Secret History this year too, so it will be fun to compare notes. I really enjoyed Little Dorrit and The Warden.

I'll be interested to hear how you like The Princess Bride--I love the movie, but the book not so much.

    Happy reading!

  6. OMGosh! you haven't read The Time Traveler's Wife? Move that to the top of your list, cross off The Ten Year Nap, and watch the movie for PS I love you... (I can't imagine you enjoying that one).

I'm planning to reread The Time Traveler's wife this year, the sequel is coming out later this year (whoop).

I will read Five Quarters of an Orange with you, I have had that one for about a decade... a gift from my SIL.

  7. I've always really liked the idea of this challenge, but I've never managed to do it. Of the two on your list I've read, I adored both: Sharp Objects and The Ten-Year Nap (now that I think of it, that one might be due for a re-read!) Enjoy:-)

  8. I love your list! And you are already reading Life of Pi, so that's one book already off the list! I loved Time Traveler's Wife, and a few of the others on your list are on my TBR too!

  9. oooh oooh lots of good books on your list. The Life of Pi is amazing, and The Time Traveller's Wife is a favourite of mine. The Princess Bride is very funny (better than the film too). I'm not really a chick-lit reader but P.S I Love You is a bit of an exception.
