Lots of fun bookish things to share with you this week. First things first: for all of you Austen lovers, Jane from Reading, Writing, Working and Playing has an entry in a competition for Austen related stories. Jane knows what she's doing when it comes to this kind of story--she's the author of Intimations of Austen: Stories Inspired by the Works of Jane Austen. Jane's entry delves into the character of Lucy Steele from Sense & Sensibility (#23 in the competition). Please take a minute and vote for Jane!
From Kitty at Truth, Beauty, Freedom and Books, comes this YouTube video about organizing your bookshelves.
Something in this post for environmentalists, artists and book lovers alike--art using old books. I never cease to be amazed by the creativity of people. I'd love to have a couple of these pieces in my home!
How's this for the perfect desk for a book blogger? We could build them with those ARCs that we can't get rid of any other way.
I love the clever ways they used books!! I've never really sat down and thought about books to movies...wait, I hated Julie and Julia the book, but really liked the movie!

It sounds like your daughter is going to have a wonderful birthday! My favorite book turned movie was Lonesome Dove. It was so faithful to the original material! If you haven't seen it, or read the book yet, you must do so!

ReplyDeleteAs for movies and books, I was impressed with Mystic River, in print and on screen. I think they captured the feeling of the book perfectly and the casting was right on!
Happy 16th Birthday to Miss H! A computer sounds like a terrific birthday gift (for both of you!)
ReplyDeleteYour idea to build a desk from ARCs is a great idea! I love the pictures of different things people create with books!
Hmmmm....I'm not sure what book to movie I like best. Some of the movies made from Pat Conroy books are quite good. I also liked Howard's End and Room with a View.
I hope you had a good week!
