FrightFall Read-A-Thon

Michelle of Seasons of Reading is once again hosting the FrightFall Read-A-Thon. Ideally, this one would be all about reading books for the season but Michelle just asks that at least one of the books be scary. Since I'll be finishing up Night Film today, I suppose I might be able to count it as my scary one (and it definitely qualifies on this score!) but actually scary book for this week will be Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House. I can't wait for this one; I've been meaning to read it for years.

Next up with be Songs of Willow Frost, Jamie Ford's latest. I really enjoyed his Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet so I'm really looking forward to it. Then, if I'm really inspired to keep reading (and no one complains about the lack of food on the dinner table), I'll start Louise Erdrich's The Round House. I'm hearing great things about this one. Both of these books are for TLC Book Tours and my reviews are scheduled for next week so this read-a-thon comes just in time.

Are you up for some scary reading? Reading for R.I.P. VIII anyway and looking for an excuse to work on books for that? Join the fun and take this excuse to curl up and scare yourself!

  2. I'm curious to hear what you think of Round House. It's been on my list for some time.

  3. Yay! So glad you're in, Lisa. The Haunting of Hill House is a great choice, although Ryan (Wordmithonia) and I have a debate going on which book is better, The Haunting or Hell House by Richard Matheson. I think Hell House is better to which he adamantly disagrees. ;) Both books are good ones in their own right anyway.

Enjoy the reading this week! Hope you can join us for one of the Twitter chats.
